The demand for visually impactful digital signage solutions is ever-growing, necessitating advancements in imaging technology to meet user expectations. Vadzo addressed the requirement for a High-Resolution USB camera that can be seamlessly integrated with the customer's Windows as well as Android Digital Signages to enable advanced features such as interactive advertising and facial recognition. The camera needed to have the capability to adjust focus to accommodate varying working distance and support wider field of view to accommodate users in the height range of 4ft to 7ft.

Challenges

Cost-Effective High-Resolution Camera

• To capture the user’s images with sufficient details to implement interactive advertising and facial recognition, there was a need for high-resolution images in the range of 4K or Higher.

• Additionally, the digital signage use case and market demand the need for a Cost-Effective High-Performance Solution.

Need for Advanced Autofocus

• In dynamic environments, manual focus adjustments are impractical, highlighting the necessity for advanced autofocus capabilities.

• The solution needs to incorporate reliable VCM-based AF Lens assembly in combination with a high-performance ISP to be able to provide an overall excellent Autofocus functionality.

Wider Field of View

• Incorporating Cameras into Signages for user interaction demands the need for a wider field of view to accommodate users with heights ranging from 4ft to 7ft.

• Based on a detailed mechanical and placement study, this resulted in the need for a camera that supported a diagonal FOV of 105 or higher.

Seamless Integration across Windows & Linux

• The customer was keen on incorporating the same camera in their Digital Signages thus arriving at the need for integration with Windows and Android.

• The camera partners needs to support UVC Cameras along with SDK Support for both operating systems and also consistent updates to match with the OS releases.

High-Performance ISP

• The camera houses a High-Performance ISP that enables features such as Brightness control, Contrast Control, Auto White-Balance, Auto Exposure, and Auto-Focus.

• The ISP enables additional features such as Auto-Framing, Digital PTZ, MJPEG Compression, iHDR On/Off, and Q-Factor Control.
