Requirement Overview: Compact 4K USB 3.0 Camera

The integration of high-resolution imaging technology into dental loupe camera solutions addresses challenges related to visual clarity, diagnostic accuracy, and user experience. Vadzo addressed the requirement for a compact high-resolution high-speed camera solution that can be integrated into a dental loupe solution to enable dentist to digitize their procedure and have integrated augmented reality for futuristic features that enhance the quality of the procedure.


Challenges

Compact High-Resolution Camera:
  • Effective dental procedures demand the need for high-resolution imaging in terms of resolutions such as 4K or 12MP.

  • Additionally, the loupe solutions with on-screen displays also demand high frame rate video in terms of 720p@30fps or 1080@30fps.

Demand for Light Weight Compact Solution:
  • Considering the wearable requirement, the customer was looking for a lightweight camera solution that weighs less than 30 grams.

  • The camera requirement came with a dimensional constraint of having to be smaller than 25mm x 25mm.

Need for Higher Depth of Field:
  • The Loupe Camera would need to capture the video and images of the patient’s oral cavity at a working distance of 50 cm or lower. Thus, the need for a narrow field of view to ensure maximum utilization of sensor resolution.

  • Also, the images need to accommodate the variations in working distance which demands the need for optics that support higher depth of field.

Seamless Integration across Windows & Linux:
  • The customer was keen on enabling their loupe camera solution to work on Windows and Android.

  • The camera partners need to support UVC Cameras along with SDK Support for both operating systems and support consistent updates to match with the OS releases.


The Solution: AR1335 4K USB Camera

High-Resolution Imaging:
  • The AR1335 Camera supports resolutions of 4K and 13MP, providing exceptional visual clarity and detail crucial for Low Latency Video Streaming and High-Resolution Image Capture.

  • The camera supports USB 3.0 UVC Interface thus enabling low latency high frame rate videos.   

High-Performance ISP:
  • The camera houses a High-Performance ISP that enables features such as Excelling Color Reproduction, Brightness control, Contrast Control, Auto White-Balance, Auto Exposure, and Auto-Focus.

  • The ISP enables additional features such as Auto-Framing, Digital PTZ, MJPEG Compression, iHDR On/Off, and Q-Factor Control.

Optics Selection to Accommodate DOF and FOV:
  • The camera comes with an M12 Lens Assembly that supports a narrow field of view and higher depth of field. Vadzo collaborated with the customer to test various competent lenses to arrive at the right option.

  • The camera enclosure was designed to accommodate the M12 Lens thereby enabling optimization on the form-factor and weight.

Seamless Integration:
  • Vadzo cameras are designed for easy integration into existing digital signage setups, minimizing disruption and streamlining the upgrade process.

  • Compatibility with standard interfaces ensures hassle-free installation, allowing businesses to quickly reap the benefits of autofocus technology.

The integration of the Vadzo Falcon-1335CRS 4K USB Camera has enabled a high-performance loupe camera solution.

Next Steps

Building on the success of the High-Resolution Vision System integration, future developments may include:

Mass Production:
  • Vadzo engaged with the customer on Pilot Production in the volumes of 100 units.

  • Post Successful Pilot Deployments, the annual production ramp achieved as of 2023 is 1K Units.

  • The cameras are manufactured in ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 13485 Certified Facility.

Augmented Reality Integration:
  • Investigate further customization to incorporate an AR Display integrated with voice commands and Pocket Mounted WIFI Device.
